Cooper DeJean leads the list of top prospects remaining after the first round of the draft. The Green Bay Packers made their first pick of the 2024 NFL Draft late on Thursday night, selecting Arizona offensive lineman Jordan Morgan with the 25th overall selection in round one. Green Bay should have plenty of options on day two of the draft, however, as the hold four picks in rounds two and three and have a number of intriguing prospects still on the board.
Leading the way among potential Packers targets will be Iowa DB Cooper DeJean, who surprisingly fell out of round one. DeJean is arguably the best remaining player on the board, and that is indeed the case when looking at the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus draft board.
Based on that board, here are the top remaining players as the draft heads into night two, where the Packers hold picks 41, 58, 88, and 91:

To understand Green Bay’s choice in the first round, just watch him versus the top pass-rusher in the 2024 class. When the Green Bay Packers were on the clock with the 25th pick of the draft on Thursday night, many expected the selection to be either Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean or Duke offensive lineman Graham Barton. Instead, the Packers chose to go with Arizona’s Jordan Morgan — who has been rumored to be a first-round pick for the last two seasons — one pick ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selecting Barton.
Right as Morgan was building steam as a first-round pick during the 2022, he tore his ACL against the UCLA Bruins, leading to him returning to school for the 2023 campaign as he hoped to improve his draft stock by proving to teams that he could bounce back from that knee injury. One event that seemed to help him was the Senior Bowl, as Senior Bowl director Jimy Nagy stated that Morgan won every single one-on-one rep during Collapse

Todd McShay has apparently figured out the entire top 11 picks. The last 24 hours of the draft are a whirlwind. Sometimes clean information surfaces, like the rumor that the Las Vegas Raiders were going to make a surprising pick — who wound up being pass-rusher Clelin Ferrell — with the fourth choice in the 2019 draft. Other times, it’s complete hogwash, like the Will Levis first-round hype from last year.
So let’s see what credible sources are saying today, as we’re just a few hours from the Chicago Bears being on the clock in Detroit.

For my money, DeJean’s versatility makes him the best defensive prospect in the draft. Generally speaking, Terrion Arnold of Alabama, Quniyon Mitchell of Toledo, and Nate Wiggins of Clemson have been mocked ahead of fellow defensive back Cooper DeJean in the lead-up to the 2024 NFL Draft. To a point, I get it. All of those players are very good and I’d be happy to have any of them as Green Bay Packers, but I’d put DeJean above all of them.
Before we get into why that is, let me provide a quick reminder that I’m bad at draft analysis, especially tape study, and what I’m about to write is entirely based on a guy who has…let’s see…17 Google Sheets open at this very moment watching game film. And not fancy All-22 game film either, just the normal kind, shot from the sideline where the receivers all run off screen and it’s impossible to tell what’s happening before replay. So take this with a huge grain of salt.

The 2024 NFL Draft is finally upon us. It’s now less than 12 hours until the start of the draft, as NFL fans’ long mock draft-filled wait is just about over.
There’s really not much more to say about the Green Bay Packers’ plans, and certainly nothing that hasn’t already been said. But just in case you need any more preparation, here are a few final items to look over, in addition to some news coming out of Chicago about a plan for a potential new Bears stadium.

Mockers seem to believe it’s Cooper DeJean or an offensive lineman for the green and gold in the first round. We’re just over 24 hours away from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, which means mock drafts are pummeling us. In an attempt to boil down all the information into one quick read, we’ve compiled all of the recent mock drafts written by notable names in the NFL draft community and/or the local media into one spot.
You’ll quickly notice, once you see the results of these mock drafts, that the Green Bay Packers are essentially being given two options by the prognosticators. Option A is taking defensive back Cooper DeJean, the Iowa product who general manager Brian Gutekunst stated this week that he considers to be both a potential cornerback and safety at the next level. Option B is going with an offensive lineman, which could lead to a reshuffling of the unit after a recent report claimed that the Packers consider right tackle Zach Tom to Collapse

With the 25th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected offensive lineman Jordan Morgan from the University of Arizona. The young lineman should quickly become one of the primary blockers for Jordan Love somewhere across the offensive line as the team works to beef up its front five in front of the young quarterback.
Morgan’s selection is hardly a slam dunk pick, however. Popular mock draft picks like Iowa DB Cooper DeJean and Duke lineman Graham Barton were still on the board when the Packers selected Morgan. Green Bay passed on the likes of Graham Barton and Cooper DeJean and took a multi-year starting left tackle in round one. After an interminable wait to get to pick number 25, the Green Bay Packers have made their first selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Instead of drafting one of the favorite mock draft prospects throughout the lead-up to the draft, the Packers have selected offensive tackle Jordan Morgan out of the University of Arizona.
A 22-year-old two-time All-Pac-12 tackle, Morgan has been the Wildcats’ starting left tackle for the last three years after starting a handful of games in 2019 and 2020, his true freshman and COVID-shortened seasons. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in a shade over 310 pounds, Morgan posted an excellent workout at the 2024 NFL Combine:
Jordan Morgan was drafted with pick 25 of round 1 in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 9.24 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 105 out of 1377 OT from 1987 to Collapse

Former offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga will announce the team’s two Round 2 selections. The NFL has released its list of Day 2 presenters for Friday’s portion of the NFL draft. Unlike the first round, which features handshakes from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Day 2 is a bit more lax, allowing “legends” and current players to read out names for the fans in Detroit.
The Green Bay Packers are set to pick four times on Day 2, as they have two second-round sections (thank you, New York Jets) and two third-round selections (thank you, Buffalo Bills). The second-round picks, the 41st and 58th overall choices, will both be announced by former Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga — a 2010 first-round pick and Super Bowl champion. In his nine years in Green Bay, Bulaga registered 111 starts for the team and was a part of six playoff teams when healthy — on top of the 2012 season that he finished out on the injured reserve.

Assume that Dillard is going to be on the roster bubble this summer, based on his one-year deal. Last week, the Green Bay Packers made a last-second free agency signing when they added former Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans tackle Andre Dillard to the team. Dillard, a former first-round pick, was one of the most athletic offensive linemen ever as a draft prospect but has failed to translate that into a quality NFL career. At the moment, Pro Football Focus has graded his three seasons as a significant contributor as 61.2, 69.6 and 52.8 on their grading scale.
Last year, Dillard was benched mid-season for the Tennessee Titans, leading to his eventual release one year into his three-year, $29 million contract. When he signed with the Packers, the assumption was that he was going to come in as a depth tackle, even with the rumors swirling that the team views right tackle Zach Tom as a potential Hall-of-Fame center.

Here’s your final primer on how to tune in for tonight’s first round. The NFL Draft is finally here — the wait is down to hours and minutes instead of days. Tonight, round one kicks off the 2024 draft from the home city of one of the Green Bay Packers’ NFC North rivals, one year before the Packers themselves will host the 2025 version of the event.
The Packers sit at pick number 25 heading into the evening, but with plenty of resources to move up the draft board if they so choose. Green Bay has four day-two picks — 41 and 58 in the second round plus 88 and 91 in round three — should they decide to get aggressive for a player of their choice tonight.
The number one pick in the draft is not in doubt, however, as Caleb Williams from USC will all but assuredly go to the Chicago Bears. After that, however, it gets interesting: which quarterbacks will go off the board, and in what order? Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye appear to be the leading Collapse

Despite playing all of his snaps at left tackle, general manager Brian Gutekunst believes his first-round pick can play the non-center positions. New Green Bay Packers first-round pick Jordan Morgan played 2,483 offensive snaps of football at the University of Arizona, according to Pro Football Focus. Every single one of those reps came at left tackle.
When asked if he had played any other positions but left tackle, Morgan told the Green Bay media on Thursday that he had only lined up at guard in individual drills for practice during college. Despite that, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst stated that Morgan was a “versatile offensive lineman” who could play four positions — presumably the non-center spots — at the professional level.

The Green Bay Packers will not be on the clock for a while this evening, as they currently sit with pick number 25, but the wheeling and dealing from teams around the NFL could begin far earlier.
Quarterbacks are expected to fly off the board early, with Caleb Williams a sure thing to go #1 to the Chicago Bears. But shortly after Williams’ selection, the likes of Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy should be hot commodities. Then there is plenty of intrigue around the top wide receivers in the draft — Marvin Harrison, Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze could all go in the top ten as well — plus any number of other storylines that could pop up throughout the evening.

A majority of fans think Green Bay will trade out of 25, but are divided on if the team will go up or down from there. With just hours remaining before the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers are set to pick 25th in the first round. But general manager Brian Gutekunst has been known to move around the draft board, both up and down, and the possibility that the Packers do not actually pick at 25 is a very real and very plausible one.
This week, we asked Packers fans what they thought the Packers would do at 25, and a majority of respondents — a full 60 percent — said that they expect Gutekunst to trade out of 25. Interestingly, however, that group was split almost evenly on whether the Packers would be moving up into an earlier pick or trading back, which could even push them out of the first round.

Here’s a look at where the Packers are scheduled to pick throughout this weekend, at least before the draft begins. The Green Bay Packers head into the 2024 NFL Draft with 11 selections. Green Bay has made a pair of trades that affected their 2024 draft picks, while also adding three compensatory draft picks for free agent losses in 2023 — one short of the maximum that any team can receive in a single draft.
By virtue of the Packers’ 9-8 record in 2023 and their Wild Card playoff win that advanced them to the Divisional Playoffs, their own picks would be the 25th or 26th in each round of the draft. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also had the same record and advanced the same distance in the postseason, so with the Packers getting the tiebreaker for an earlier pick in round one, the two teams alternate in successive rounds with Tampa Bay having the earlier selection in even rounds.

After gaining 12 pounds this offseason, Wooden is going to play 4-3 defensive tackle for Green Bay in 2024. Many of the Green Bay Packers’ rookies in 2023 had mid- or late-season breakouts as the Packers made the push to the playoffs. One who had a quiet first season in the NFL, though, was fourth-round defensive lineman Colby Wooden — who played 3-4 defensive end for the team.
After playing 49 and 44 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in Week 1 and 2, respectively, Wooden only cracked over 26 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in one remaining game for the 2023 season. Initially, he began last season as Joe Barry’s fourth interior defensive lineman, a position he then lost to Karl Brooks after the Packers’ Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons — a game in which Wooden was often targeted in the ground game.

The 2024 NFL Draft is just one day away, and Green Bay Packers fans are anxiously waiting to see if Brian Gutekunst can have a repeat performance from 2023. There are still so many unknowns about which direction the Packers will take their haul of 11 draft picks. However, that much capital could put the Packers in a position to take some big swings.
With that mindset, let’s break down a 2024 mock draft, using PFF’s Mock Draft Simulator to get a feel for what could happen this weekend.

1 DAY AGO - Mark Hoffman?Milwaukee Journal Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK
The window is open. Can the Packers make the right moves? The Packers’ foundation is strong, but the stakes are high for this weekend’s NFL Draft.
Last year’s exciting finish was amazing and spoke of the potential for big things to come. Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense was firing on all cylinders, and they had a real opportunity to go to the NFC Championship before miscues down the stretch doomed their upset bid in San Francisco.
But if they’re hoping for more, they need more contributors out of this year’s draft class.
As good as things looked down the stretch, there were holes on the 2023 team and they remain despite the Packers’ offseason moves. Xavier McKinney is a huge upgrade in the secondary, but he needs help, and so does Quay Walker at linebacker. For that matter, you can file most of the offensive line under “needs help,” if only from a depth perspective.
None of this should be news to Brian Gutekunst Collapse
